How Music Helps Me

When you're susceptible to mood swings it is good to avoid things that can put you on a downer, or make you too high.
Music absolutely makes my day more manageable.
Sometimes I Listen to it to lose myself in it, to get lost in the story, the rhythm.
Other times I listen because I want to be found. I want to recognise what I am feeling and label it, experience it fully, express myself through someone else's interpretation of what it is to feel, to be human.
So whether I turn to something upbeat to get me out of a funk and into the funky, or whether I put on something moving and deep so I can process my thoughts and feelings, it is there as a positive and powerful influence.
I have spent hours singing along to songs about unrequited love, lust, seduction, heartbreak and loss, and sometimes it pains me because I think of how I could've spent that time loving myself instead, and trying to rebuild the bridges within myself, between ego and core, trauma and free spirit.
In wish I could love myself more than I have loved others.
Not through vanity or bragging, but through self respect and self belief:
to learn acceptance of myself as I accept and cherish the flaws of others.

Ugly thoughts
