What Someone With a Mental Health Condition Looks Like

Well yeah, I have mental health conditions but I don't look any different from anyone else. Some people think that you need to look ill or sad to prove you have a mental health condition but in reality, it is something that doesn't always show!

I have suffered with mental health conditions most of my life, but for the past year, things have gotten worse. I don't expect people to give my sympathy or judge me for this. If you know me, you probably had no clue that I was even going through it and I hope that people don't treat me differently now that I have said this.

There is such a stigma about mental health which I have struggled with myself and this is why I am posting this. I am not ashamed or embarrassed about having a mental health condition and no one should be. If you respect me enough, you won't treat me any differently or anyone else suffering. At this point in time, I feel strong enough to post this and to try and stop this stigma because I have been suffering for months without telling most of the people I know, worrying about what people would say or think if I told them.

I seen this yesterday and I thought it was such an amazing quote. People are so quick to judge people and things that they have been through without realising how strong that person is to even still be there after everything they may have been through in their life. I have been through a lot in my life and people are always so quick to judge my character as 'too sensitive' but maybe if people knew the whole story or even slightly understood, maybe they would think again before saying it.

Everyone's lives are different and everyone copes with different things in different ways. So the next time you make a judgement on someone, take a step back and think about what they might be going through or have gone through and maybe you might change your mind.

If anyone needs to talk to me about anything I am always here for anyone who needs to talk to someone.

Mental Health does not define you

Stay Strong

Caitlin:)
