Foot Stompin' Therapy

I can't hear a bar of Scottish trad music without my foot instinctively tapping along to the beat.

The drone of bagpipes, waltzing chords of an accordion or a strathspey on the fiddle, touch my heart in an inexplicable way. I get a warm fuzzy feeling of home and belonging and the strongest urge to leap up out of my seat and grab a ceilidh partner!

A Highland dancer since the age of 4 and a keen fiddler all through my teens and adult life, it feels like folk music is a part of me and my life. Even when I was at Uni and studying for exams in the library I would listen to my favourite folk tunes and my productivity would skyrocket (all whilst marking out the Highland Fling with my legs under the desk).

Now, whenever I feel a bit low, I can instantly lift the fog, if even just slightly, with a wee bit of folk (I highly recommend Elephant Sessions, Ainya's as a pick me up, trust me you'll be foot stompin' around your bedroom by 1 minute in!).
